The CFPO began in 1976 as a non-profit making co-operative. Today it has 210 fishing vessel members for all over Cornwall. Their fishermen own vessels ranging in size from a 5 metre single-handed cove boat to a 38 metre beam trawler. Seafood Cornwall Training Seafood Cornwall Training Ltd. is based in Newlyn at the heart of Cornwall's Fishing Industry, having opened its doors to fishermen, and onshore workers from across the county and the Isles of Scilly in January 2009. This event marked the start of locally delivered training for the Cornish Fish Industry.
Seafish was founded in 1981 by an Act of Parliament and supports all sectors of the seafood industry for a sustainable, profitable future. It is the only pan-industry body offering services to all parts of the seafood industry, including catching and aquaculture, processors, importers, exporters and distributors of seafood and restaurants and retailers.
